Think that's the first Dave Matthews song I've ever intentionally listened to. Pretty good too. Dan | | | Tom in London United Kingdom Local time: 18:26 Member (2008) Italian to English

To be fair, she is a pianist first. But like I said during that massage, keep doing what you’re doing with your fingers darling but for chrissakes keep your gob shut. | | | Tom in London United Kingdom Local time: 18:26 Member (2008) Italian to English
I was referring to her piano playing more than her singing. There's nothing fair about it. Now be serious for a moment and listen to this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uco5FNbjqv0

Not many people knew about them at the time (or if they did, they thought they were a bit too jazzy or artsy), so I considered myself one of the privileged few who actually knew of and enjoyed this amazing band (at least here in Turkey). They eventually got their well-deserved fame, but still they are relatively unknown to the mainstream music fans. I thought I had to share this for the benefit of those looking for new stuff to listen to. Give it a try, you won't regret it, if you do, apologies in advance. ▲ Collapse
I tried. But I'm jazz-blind. They all sound the same to me. Could be any hotel lobby in the world. Well, maybe not around Paddington. Which is a failing, I accept. I have a modest amount of training and experience as a musician and composer, yet I still don't get it. Stop noodling around and play a tune, man! And he really needs to work on his posture. My lumbar discs are crying out in sympathy.

Many bands I listen to are about to or have celebrated their 50 years on stage: ZZ Top, Black Sabbath, the Rolling Stones... My latest serious live concert was err, AC/DC in err, 2016. Musical paralysis hit me hard. I haven't spent a whole day in disc shops for decades. I am stuck with Dr Feelgood, Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Lee Hooker, The Clash, the Ramones and the Cramps, the Doors, Led Zeppelin and the Stooges, although I sometimes catch a glimpse of the 2000s with the White Stripes, ... To worsen it all, the leader of one of my favorite French bands of all times from the late 80s killed his girlfriend. I just feel sad listening to their songs: Les écorchés, A l'arrière des taxis, Le vent nous portera, Tostaky, Aux sombres héros de l'amer... Philippe ▲ Collapse

I find Spotify suggests lots of new stuff in the same vein as the bands I used to like, which is helping me bridge the two worlds. I used to love a French band called Trust. On-ti-so-cial. Very much of its era I imagine. No idea what they were on about but punky French sounds really cool to my ears. Will check them out again today. It’s hard when real life interferes with your favourite music. I can’t imagine what it must be like to have been a Gary Glitter or Lost Prophets superfan. It is for similar reasons that I avoid interviews with my heroes. You want them to remain gods in your eyes. It’s hard enough them turning fat, bald and jowly on stage. Luckily Sinead O’Connor was always nuts so she can’t disappoint me. | | | Baran Keki Türkiye Local time: 20:26 Member English to Turkish

That was my favorite Anthrax song as a kid, I had no idea it was a Trust cover (well, had I known English back then I might have read it in the cassette sleeve that it was a cover). Thanks to Youtube I managed to listen to the original decades later...

I remember Trust being felt-penned on repurposed military school bags, together with Téléphone, when I was 11-12. Therefore I'm likely younger than you lads. I don't know Anthrax much, but I had no idea Antisocial had spread over the border. Just like "Comme d'habitude" exported to "My way" by Sinatra! Reading about Sinead made me think of Bjork, somehow. Time to pay tribute to women in blues/rock music: Patty Smith, Blondie, Joan Jett, Four Non-Blondes, Janis Joplin, Aretha Frank...
